Used baby mattress?

I have a friend who is getting rid of her crib mattress for $20. It's a Royale II by Colgate. Exact model is no longer sold. Her son is 2-3 now. Do you think it's okay to use? I see stuff online about not using used mattresses bc of SIDS and want to be careful. She's super clean and I know it's well cared for and in excellent used condition. Thoughts?

The issue with a used mattress is as a baby gets older and heavier they make like a hole / slope in the mattress.   When a baby is in the mattress it can get stuck in the slope and have trouble breathing etc.  A crib mattress is something I won't buy used.

I refuse to buy and mattress second hand because other baby has made its indent on it. I personally wouldn't take a chance and you can get a brand new one for that price so why not buy new you know for peace of mind you havent got issues
