Lower Back Pains

I'm 38w+2d , well I've had lower back pains for the past hour or so , at my doctors appointment 2 days ago he told me I was ready to have a baby when he checked my stomach (as in baby's head down and ready) but I was only dilated 1cm and he would see me back in a week , how can I get these pains to go away and what could be causing them ?? I'm not having contractions in the front so ??
