Dawn Dish soap to kill fleas?

k so I've seen on Facebook people suggesting washing your dog with dawn dish soap to kill fleas. is that safe? I know they use it on animals to get oil out but is it really safe for an animal that's l8fe isn't in danger?

It can really dry out their coat. Dogs have natural oils on there skin and dawn dish soap cuts through grease (oil). I used it on my lab and she itched like crazy. Also a little goes a long way and if you don't wash it it completely they can itch terribly.

Dawn works great. Kills on contact. Just don't get it in their eyes like any other shampoo or soap.

I had a kitten infested with fleas and it definitely works!! I agree with using coconut oil after though as the soap will dry their coat/skin.

You can use it but I would recommend rubbing the pups down with coconut oil after and also feeding it to them bc dawn will dry their skin out.

My husband has used it on our kitten and our puppy when they got fleas but were too young for flea bath. It killed some for sure, but it's probably because just the fact that it's soap made it impossible for them to breathe or something. It doesn't continue killing them after it washes off or anything. But it didn't hurt the animals any. We only did it once for each, though. After one wash we killed so many fleas around the house that they didn't need it soon.

I would just buy flea shampoo, they aren't that much more expensive

I love advantix because it also repels mosquitoes but if you don't want a topical they have bravest and confortis which are pills
