Cribs for twins?

Question

We are up in the air on how many cribs we should get. Should we go ahead and start with two or will one be ok to start with?

Our plan is to have one crib (the one we had for our son) and play it by ear when the twins are born as far as buying the second one. My theory is that if for some reason one crib isn't sufficient we always have the bassinet from our son and/or we can order one on Amazon and get it two days later! :)

My twins shared a crib for the first several weeks. My son wouldn't sleep unless he was with his twin sister! It's just more practical, too. Once they are able to roll around, it's safer to put them in separate cribs. Congrats on your twins & best of luck!

I started with 2 and I was glad I did. Even though they were preemie they were all over each other in 1 crib & they wouldn't sleep. When they were in separate cribs they slept great.

I have a couple friends with twins and a friend with triplets and they all say one is perfect to start out with. They all have said that the babies get separation anxiety in the beginning if they are apart. So I will be starting off with having them both in one :-)

My friend has always had two and I watch her darling twin boys often. They are older now, but one crib would be impractical.

You could always move them together into one but if you only
had one that'd be your only option.

A lot of SIDS research says that it's safer to put each baby in their own crib. But probably whatever works for you! We are having triplets and purchased three seperate cribs :-)
