Am I being over dramatic?

My MiL text me today saying she's booking a cruise for all of us for next July. I've never been on one or out of the country for that matter. I told her I think it'd be to much because my son would only be 5 months old. She kept saying he will be fine don't shelter him. Number one babies aren't free on a cruise so to pay that much for something he won't remember. Number two their immune system isn't up to ours and he could get sick 
Number three I'll be breast feeding and won't be any fun for me. What do you all think?

What would aggravate me is that youre telling her how you feel and she is basically dismissing you and telling you what is ok for your baby. Whether or not it will be fine, if you feel like it isnt something you want to do stand your ground!

There are no ocean cruise lines that will allow you to sail with an infant under 6 months, and many require them to be 12 months. I sailed with both my kids around a year and loved it, but she really needs to check the age limits before booking.

I wouldn't take my baby that young. It wouldn't really be enjoyable for either of you and I think your MIL is being kind of rude about it.

Totally over dramatic! 5 months is the absolute perfect time to travel! You guys will be in a good routine but baby won't be eating solids or mobile so they'll be so easy! I've traveled a ton with my son over the last couple of years. Your baby will have a couple of sets of vaccines by that point but you can also talk to your doctor about getting some early. It's not always possible but sometimes they can get some early for extra protection.

That's a minor worry though, you should totally go for it. Traveling with a 5 month old will be super fun and not nearly as hard as you expect!

Is she paying for it? If so I'd be all in 😂 5 months is an easier age. You generally have a schedule down, they are mostly sleeping through the night, and bf is easier. You can even have a drink or two after a feeding if you want to relax and enjoy yourself.

Obviously it's up to you and what you feel comfortable with but I've been on many vacations with my kids that age and it was fine. It's a lot easier before they are walking.

I personally would wait until baby is older. I was thinking about planning one for next summer. Baby would be a month shy of her 1st bday and I'm still hesitant. But it it truly your decision.

This is my first pregnancy and totally understand I would be the same. Im not sure what vaccines they have until then but that is very early to take on a cruise in close quarters with Germs and things. I would try to wait a year to go out of country. Maybe speak with your doctor/nurse see what they say? If they say wouldn't advise it. Can always say dr said they wouldn't recommend it 😉

I would go! Cruises can be a lot of fun and you can find shady spots everywhere. You will have a chance to relax and baby will be easy to handle as he/she isn't walking.

I would probably wait to. Especially if she expects you to pay for yourselves! Why pay for added stress and something baby won't remember?
