First OBGYN appointment

I called to make an appointment to confirm my pregnancy and of course I have tons of questions for my dr and they gave me an appointment for January 7th. I asked to be seen sooner and then they gave me December 29th. Why are the appointments scheduled so far away? I know a baby is not visible yet on a sonogram but I do have questions. So frustrating! I called a walk in clinic and made an appointment in the meantime.
