My mother is going off the deep end and buying everything she sees for the baby. Here's the problem: not only is she putting herself and my dad in a financial pickle, she's also purchasing things I genuinely do not like. She gets incredibly hurt when I let her know that I don't like something and often times what she got was MORE expensive than what I wanted. She bought a God awfully hideous stroller, car seat and swing from the 90's at a garage sale and didn't talk to me for a week when I said I wished she had run it past me first(not to mention there was no way I was going to use that car seat seeing as how it was upwards of 20 years old and safety was a question). It's always "I screwed up. I'm a terrible mother and I should just stop trying!" Always an overreaction. Can someone give me some constructive criticism on how to handle this? I just want her to run it by me first. Clothing is one thing but big purchases like a swing and stuff is different.
