I have to do that for my 35 weeks appointment what exactly do they do and what is it?

It depends on your doctor. Some do the swab for you. It's like a pelvic exam, you get up on the table in stirrups and they swab you. Others let you do it yourself. They send you to the bathroom with a long q tip in a case and instructions for how to Sean yourself.

It looks for a specific infection that can harm your baby if it's present in your vaginal canal during delivery. It's inportant to know about, but not worth a panic if you do test positive. It just means you have to come in earlier once labour starts and get a round of I'v antibiotics. Not ideal but worth it for your baby's sake!

It's a quick swab of your vagina.. Takes less time then a pap !!!! No big deal

It's similar to when you get a paper smear. They just swab your vagina and test it. If it comes back positive don't worry it's very common and they just give you some antibiotics during labor.
