Am I going into labor?

I'm 40w 1d. For the last day and a half I've had lower back cramping. Tonight I can't sleep because of the back cramps and newly lower abdominal cramping. I'm not sure if these are contractions or just a sign labor may be coming....will I know? I suddenly feel super gassy too!

I had all lower back cramping when I was in labor. I started timing the cramps and they were roughly every 5 min once they started a pattern. Kept me awake all night. Whole next day I had such bad back cramps they'd stop me in my tracks almost. I didn't know it was contractions since I expected to feel belly pain and not back pain. After spending nearly  12 hours cramping and they got more consistent I went to l&d and was admitted . 
If yours are consistent it may be time! Doesn't hurt to go in ! Good luck .

When you can feel them coming, know they're building up and know when it'll finish it's a contraction. More than 4 per half hour is time to go get checked out

I had this for hours yesterday and somehow managed to sleep through most of the night. I'm thinking if it starts up again today I'm going in.
