How many ounces of milk are your newborns eating at a time I don't want to overfeed my baby but he seems so hungry

Any lactating consultant will tell you that at this age a baby should be able to eat as much as they want whenever they want.  Babies go through several small growth spurts at this age, and so sometimes they will cluster feed and need a lot of milk more frequently for a couple of days, then slow down again. So while on average they eat 2-3 oz. per feeding, they may sometimes do more or less. They'll let you know what they need!

My baby was born 9lbs 12oz so she started off eating quite a bit. I've been doing both breast and formula though. She's been doing about 2oz every 2 to 3 hrs along with what she can get out of me. But today we tried 3oz and she's been happy with it.

My 1 month old eats anywhere from 2.5-4.5 oz....she's been taking that much since about 2 weeks.....sometimes its every hour and a half.....sometimes she will 3 hours.

Usually 2 oz of breast milk every 2-3 hrs or when she wakes up. She's had a couple feedings where she has had 3-4 oz. If she asks hungry still and looking for a nipple/bottle I will give her more after a few minutes. I worry about giving her too much as well. I think this young you can't.

Then from 2-3 weeks old she was eating 2.5-3
And now she's 4 weeks and a day and she's eating 3.5 every 3 1/2 - 4 hours
