Question

I really like this stroller..  and other things like I really want to get the mamaroo. I told my MIL and she's like save your money don't buy anything just wait you will get big stuff at your baby shower. Save for diapers and formula. Ok..... #1 most people won't buy big things like that. #2 if someone does buy me something like a stroller it probably 100% won't be the one that I am looking to buy or the mamaroo they might just buy a basic bouncer or rocker that's not wat I want #3 I do want to buy for my baby as well I don't want everything bought for me or the baby.. should I go ahead and buy what I want when the time is right or should I want after the baby shower? ...

I am buying the very specific things I want. I have a very specific wood shade for the nursery that matches the dressers my grandpa made for me as a child that I will be using for our child and so I got my own rocker as those are pricey and unlikely anyone would buy, we wanted a rather pricey stroller set that we knew no one would buy so we purchased that. And I'm putting the other specifics that are more affordable on the baby registery like the car seat, baby wrap, baby carrier and such. I've actually done so much research on stuff that I am very specific to most of the baby stuff we get... thus the registry.  Hopefully people who choose to buy gifts will follow our wishes for the important items. Of course we will appreciate anything no matter what.

See what you get at the baby shower. I didn't get the exact stroller I wanted with my son .  but I love the one I got and they got me the entire set! It was a really nice set and its been passed down a few times. And worst case scenario most people include gift receipts at baby showers with their gifts just in case you get doubles

I bought what I wanted and know other people would not splurge for and mostly requested clothes and diapers, it's up to you, your baby, your shower

I had some people ask what I wanted/needed before the shower and I said anything or vouchers for a certain store so that I could buy the buggy I wanted with them.  
I ended up with over $300 in vouchers towards my buggy.

I felt the same way, and so anxious to start getting the stuff I really want. But my mom convinced me to wait until after the shower just to see what I did get. That way you wont buy doubles, and if someone gets things you don't want you can usually exchange those for what you do want. Plus make a registry and hopefully ppl will go by that and get gifts of your choosing. I personally thinks it's fine to get the bigger most expensive stuff bc you're right ppl usually don't get those things, more like diapers and cute clothes. Ultimately it's up to you though! It's your baby so do what you think is best!

I would send a nice little message to the people coming to your baby shower saying that you have picked ones out and if they were going to buy you one of them just to give you money towards the ones you want.. It sucks other people telling you what you can and can't do. If you really love it just get them and at least you'll be happy with the products that you need to use each day.. Rather than getting something else you aren't happy with

My mom wouldn't let me buy a single thing before my shower and I was so upset because I thought the same thing. Surprisingly someone did buy me my travel system and the other bigger items I really wanted. I only had to buy one big item, my carrier that was $140. I know it's tough but waiting until after the shower doesn't hurt. My shower was at 35 weeks and even with running to the store myself and getting some things I was completely ready for baby by 37 weeks.
