How do I tell him I'm ready ?

My boyfriend and I have been together for about 2 years, and it's been wonderful. Because I am a virgin and made it clear I was not at all ready for sex when we first began dating, he kept a safe distance. But I've given it a lot of thought, this is very important to me. I'm ready but I don't know how to tell him. I've been dropping hits everywhere and he hasn't said anything ! Please help
