Removed my own IUD

Hello ladies. I just wanted to know if anyone else has ever removed their own IUD? I got mine back in March and have had some major issues with it. As a little background: I am fortunate to have NEVER had uterine cramps during my periods IN MY LIFE, ever ever ever. Leg cramps? Oh yeah. But anything abdominal during periods? Never. Immediately after getting my Skyla a few months ago, I started having horrible cramps, all day every day! They felt like slightly milder versions of the labor cramps I felt during my miscarriage. It was horrible. Sometimes the pain would make me dizzy, or even cause me to become lightheaded and need to sit down. My insertion was a breeze and it did its job effectively, but I just couldn't take the cramps anymore. So about a week ago, I got in the shower and squatted and heated down and found my strings. (They were curled around my cervix, so it took a while to get a decent grip on them). After getting them in a firm hold, I pulled downward with a steady pressure, and out popped my little Skyla. Besides a minor cramp while it was coming out, I've had zero discomfort. I was on my period at the time, and after removal it got SUPER heavy (probably because there were no hormones holding it back) but now my period is over and I haven't had a single cramp since taking it out. I feel so good to have control of my body again 💪🏻
