Where should baby's seat go in the car?

So I have 2 older kids (9 and 8). And I'm wondering where in the back seat I should install baby's car seat? Would it be in the center, rear facing of course, with my other 2 kids by the doors?

Well I went to car seat safety classes and they always said the middle is the safest for the baby.... Hope that helps!

Just think of how you will get the baby in and out if it's in the middle. I have the same problem so we will be putting baby on the side that pulls up to the curb so you can get baby in and out safely without being in a road.

Center is safest in an accident (imagine being hit from either side, though that's an awful thought when you have 2 other kids sitting in those spots!). We installed ours using the LATCH system, but our car doesn't have LATCH anchors in the center seat. So we went with the passenger side b/c it's safest for getting baby in and out if you're on a busy street. This was all at the recommendation of the RN who taught our "prepared childbirth" class.

Ours will be in the middle so that the big kids can get to the third row easier and then our toddler will be on one of the sides beside the baby.

Sorry I couldn't post on the actual thread we were discussing on... when you park on the curb in the street the passenger side is on the sidewalk driver side is facing traffic so if you sit them behind the passenger side is safer to get them out because you don't have to worry about them getting out in traffic...

As middle is usually the best you should refer to your specific cars manual .. esp if using the LATCH system as if you dont have 3 indepent sets of latch hooks then the car seat should not be hooked with using latch in the middle seat
