Home birth warning neighbours?!

Those of you planning a home birth... I live in a close neighbourhood on a small road. Would you letter drop to let people know you're planning a home birth, apologise in advance for noise, extra cars, possible ambulances etc? Thanks X

Warning :I have never lived in a small community,  so this might just be the ignorant  New Yorker talking.

I wouldn't bother.  So if there are a lot of cars coming up the road,  let them wonder for a day or two.   They will figure it out eventually.  It's just not worth people voicing their opinions on home birth and how your should push your baby out or "is the baby here??"  5 million times before your baby is ready to join us.

If you are close to everyone as a community unit on your street this may make sense to spread by word of mouth. If you aren't real close then I'd say it's none of their business and I assume you'll have a sibling or parent there with you and husband who would be able to deflect neighbors in the worse case scenario they come knocking to find out what is going on.

I wouldn't tell them, some people have weird opinions on home births and then you risk having a weird relationship with them if you didn't know them well beforehand

I live in a condo and told my one neighbour as it came up in conversation. Other wise I wouldn't. I was really loud when labouring and no one came to ask questions since we kept the windows closed.

The only reason I'd say yes is I was watching a final four basketball game and screaming and two of my neighbors called the cops. 4 came bursting through my door at the end of the game. Scary and very unnecessary. I'd give em a heads up

Nope. I thought the same thing with my first birth and only the two neighbors that were friends with knew because we talked about it otherwise we told no one and it was fine.
