Is a Rock n' Play all I need?

Question

We're planning for baby to sleep in our room for the first few months and I've heard great things about the Rock n' Play. Is it safe for the first few months or do I need something with less of an incline? I would use a pack n' play but we don't have much extra space in our room.

I have an Auto Rock n Play, but I don't let my LO stay in it for a long time. We used the bassinet on top of pack n play for the first few weeks and then transitioned to the crib. The rock n play caused my cousin's baby to have a flat spot on the back of the head because they used it every night for the first few months.

We used the rock n play every night for 4 months with DD thinking it was the greatest thing, since she had severe reflux and rested so well at an incline. Fast forward to 6 months when we were at children's hospital getting her fitted with a cranial shaping helmet she had to wear 23 hours a day for the rest of her first year due to the severe positional plagiocephaly (flat head) it caused.

It's a great thing to have, it is NOT a great thing to sleep in! They can't turn their head side to side to keep things rounded (and also strengthen neck muscles) like they do laying flat. We bought another one for this new baby, but it will NOT be her bed.

I don't think the rock n play will last more than 2-3 months. The pack n play will last a little longer, but by the time they're able to pull up you'll want baby in a crib.

I wanted to do this for my first because he had acid reflux but there have been studies that too much use of the rock n play can be bad for their growing little heads. If you do a quick Google search on it you will probably find the research right away. We used a bassinet for the first few months before transitioning to a crib in his own room.

My little man is 5 weeks and he loves his rock n play. We tried to get him to sleep in his crib and his bassinet to no avail. It helps with night feedings to because the incline helps him digest without spitting up.

I had it and used it for my first for the first 4 months in my bedroom. The one thing I will say was transitioning to the crib from that was a nightmare!! She was so used to being cozy and snuggled that when it was time to lay flat in the big crib it was like the first weeks all over.

This time, I'll be using the rock
N play downstairs in the kitchen or something when I'm making dinner and my other little one is around . I'll be keeping a pack n play in my bedroom for the beginning part and then hopefully have a better transition later on. 
I refer getting the rock n play but I have it now so why not use it?

I'm thinking of returning our pack n play for the same reason. Just found this smaller graco travel lite crib that is 23w x 33d so will fit nicely in our room.

The only bad thing about that is that they get used to the motion and it makes it harder to transition them into a stationary bed. The only place other than our bed that my daughter would sleep in was her swing. Im having the hardest time getting her to sleep in her pack n play

We used it and loved it! The only problem I had was a really tall bed mixed with a csection meant my husband had to hand him to me every time I nursed! We have a shorter bed this time so I doubt it will be a problem again!
