I feel scared

My ex who ghosted me and I started to talk and patch things up as friends. He expressed that he wanted to get back together again, but understood if I didn't want to. I thought this was something I wanted, but I feel so scared that if I do get back with him that I'll just get ghosted and hurt all over again. It took so much to get over it the last time. I know I didn't deserve that. He's been doing a lot to gain that trust back, but just knowing that he could cut me off without thinking about it and knowing that he could potentially do it again really scares me.
