College and LDR Advice?😕

I plan on going off to college out of state next year, about 12 hours from home, and my boyfriend will still be in high school. I love him and we both have expressed that we don't want to end things, but I'm really worried that having a LDR will be a huge burden on him. I don't want anything to happen where he'd get tired of me or my being away, but this is my dream school. Any advice?
