How bad does it hurt?

Question

So I've never gotten a tatto before, only a belly piercing. Anyway, I was thinking about getting a tattoo on each wrist in small Japanese writing (I'm Japanese and the saying has much meaning to me), and I was wondering how much it hurts? I know everyone's pain tolerance is different, but if anyone has any experience or advice, it would be much appreciated!

If it's only small, it would be bearable. It kind of just feels like cat scratches but you'll forget the pain when it's done and you'll want more!

I got a tattoo on my wrist and it was a walk in the park compared to my ribs! The only spots id be worried about would be in the center where the tendons are. That's the spot that hurt the most for me! Hope this was somewhat helpful!

It depends on who you go to and if they have a numbing gel and where it's at and all that! With the woman I'm going to in March she has a hospital grade numbing gel that gets rid of 80-99% of the feeling for the duration of the tattoo :)

All tattoos take 2-3 weeks to fully heal and you can cover it for your job I would just make it on the looser side so that it doesn't rub which can potentially ruin the design in that area. 😊

i have a high pain tolerance but they really arent that bad. i have a thigh piece and one on my collar bone and they both hurt about the same, just a stinging annoying feeling but its worth it if you're excited about your tattoo

I got my first tattoo about two months ago. I have a low tolerance lots of paint but it wasn't too bad. It depends on where you get it done at. My tattoo is located right by wrist which hurt alittle more due to shading but other than that it wasn't over the top

I have a low pain tolerance. I'm talking if someone pinches me, it hurts... For awhile. I also have ten tattoos. It comes down to how bad do you want it. I think it's a little tender getting the tattoo done, but the end result makes it all worth it to me!

I got my left rib cage tattooed including a lot of outlining and a lot of shading. As you said pain tolerance does play but your wrist not a hugely sensitive area because of all the things they come in contact with during everyday life. I'm imaging the tattoos you want on your wrists are fairly small so you will be fine. Honestly the healing process is the worst with keeping it clean, applying lotion excluding certain contents and has to be scent free, and the peeling. It mainly feels like you are being scratched the whole time and after you're done and healing it feels like a sunburn. If you are super worried take a couple acetaminophen before you go and some music to listen to. DO NOT take ibuprofen or drink alcohol before as it will thin your blood and make you bleed more sometimes to the point where most artists won't work cuz the ink won't hold due to all the bleeding. Wrist was my first tattoo and I'd say it wasn't terrible but it still hurts pretty good. It's almost like a cat scratching you over and over again especially if the tattoo is on the boney part that is the worst. I have 3 tattoos and the wrist is my smallest and probably most painful for such a small tattoo but it was also my first so that could be why I remember it as being so bad lol
