What am I dealing with

Me and one of my ex's are trying to work on being friends and then maybe get back together. Even though he cheated and lied I still wanna be with him but every time I tell him how I feel he tells me he don't want a relationship right now he just wanna be friends but we doing things like we dating I need help I really love him and wanna be with him but he keep playing what should I do PLEASE HELP!!!!!
