Has anyone took zofran during pregnancy? I was just prescribed this. Did it help you?

It helps my sister a lot but it's known to have major birth defects on the baby so it's your call. However they do have other medications  that aren't gonna do possible damage to the child. I feel like doctors shouldn't be allowed to give it to women. They should give other alternatives before they try to give you zofran. I wouldn't personally take it but my sister has been hospitalized at least 8 times for being dehydrated because she gets so sick that she can't even hold water down so she swears by it.

Just my 2 cents, as I haven't taken Zofran, but I have been prescribed meds. My doctor prescribed Diclegis. It was banned in the US for 30 years until recently. They banned it 30 years ago because they said it caused defects. My mother in law took it with my husband when she was pregnant, and he's perfectly fine. They kept producing and selling Diclegis in Canada because there was no proof to those claims. They did countless studies and it was highly researched. Diclegis does not cause birth defects. I've been taking Diclegis and it has helped me a lot! I bring this up because a lot of people are saying Zofran causes birth defects. I don't know if this is true, but I think more research should be done. Doctors are still able to prescribe because they don't believe that it causes birth defects. Those kinds of lawsuits and things come up on most medications, it could be unfounded, but it could also be true. I've heard it works for a lot of women. If you're worried about the lawsuit and the possibilities with this medication, maybe ask your doctor to prescribe something else that has been tested more, and if they don't work, then use the Zofran as a last resort. I will warn you that Diclegis is not covered under most insurance providers so it can be a little expensive. I think mine was $40 for a 30 day supply. Good luck! I hope you find something that works for you!

Instead of diclegis my doc said i could take a unisom (regular tablet) at night and 50 mg of vitamin b6 three times a day. Much cheaper and it worked wonders for me! I took zofran a few times with my first and with this one and it didn't really help second time around.

If your not comfortable taking zofran ask for Reglan. Or over the counter B6 can help sometimes!

I second the Diclegis option. It has been a lifesaver.

My doctor prescribed Diclegis and Reglan. I've read the side-effects and a was doing some researched and it seemed like a lot of people had bad experiences with the Reglan. I'm lucky Diclegis is working for me because I REALLY don't want to take the Reglan.
