Help clarifying?

I'm Jamie and this is my 5th pregnancy. My first daughter passed away from O.I. and i have two living children. I went to the ER yesterday morning because of severe cramping, e hike in there they did blood tests and they said that my HCG levels indicate I am between 5 and 9 weeks pregnant. I'm just wondering how there is such a big gap with blood tests

Because the 'normal' level of HCG has a very wide range: 5th week: 100 - 5000, 9th week 15.000 - 200.000.
