The tables have turned...

Sa
This is going off of another post about whether or not you would stay with your SO if they left your child in the car and the child died because of this.
If this is the case of a complete accident, I am shocked that most of you on Glow would leave your husband. Seriously, shocked. I know life in general would be INCREDIBLY hard, but I'm surprised that so many of you would immediately turn to divorce, some of you even threatened to harm or even kill your husband if this happened.
So, let me ask you (out of a place of genuine curiousity, not a place of judgement)- what if the tables were turned? What if you were the one at fault? How would you hope your SO would react?
Maybe not even in the exact case of accidentally leaving your child in a hot car. What if your child pulled over a book case while you *should have* been watching them and it seriously injured or killed them? It was an accident- your accident- but also your fault. Would your SO leave you?
What if your child ran behind your car while you were backing out of the driveway and you hit them? You knew they were playing nearby, you didn't look well enough behind you, it was your fault- but a complete accident.
Is divorce because of an accident really the right choice?
