Boyfriend advice

So recently I found out my bf kissed another girl two years back and although I initially was really mad and broke up with him, I found that I could forgive him and strengthen our relationship.

The problem with this is that no one is really respecting my decision to take him back and I really wish they would. I understand that they want to protect me or whatever but it's just frustrating and it's making me question whether I should have taken him back or not
