Anyone good with genes?! Curious about hair colour!

Question

I'm really curious about the likelihood of our baby boy having dark or light hair and eyes!! 
Just wondering if anyone is clued up on how it all works...
Little background..

My side:
Me- dark brown hair and brown eyes 
My mother- ginger and blue eyes
My father- black hair and brown eyes

(Side note- my older brother and sister both have dark hair and dark eyes like me but the youngest of us 4 is mousy brown with blue eyes- we all share the same mother and father!)

Baby's fathers side:
Daddy- a bronze browny ginger colour hair with blue eyes 
Daddy's father- mousy brown hair and blue eyes
Daddy's mother- fair blonde hair and blue eyes

Wish I could be help but really there are so many factors. My husband and I both are brown hair brown eye all our kids have started blonde oldest now has dirty blond hair(7)middle blonde(6) and youngest blonde(3) 
Eye colors oldest is brown,middle blue and youngest hazel.

The brown trait is dominant, however, since both you and dad carry the blue trait, it's possible that your child could have light eyes.

I always thought the brown gene is more dominant.  My side of the family have dark brown hair and I have brown eyes. My husbands side have blue eyes and lighter hair color. My 2 of my  kids have blond or light light brown hair with blue eyes. And the 3rds hair is alittle darker than the others and he has brown eyes. It is interesting I have always thought the darker gene is more dominant but anything is possible

Baby would need 2 recessive genes to get the colored eyes. However all that means is they lack pigment in their eye and are more susceptible to eye cancers, etc. My husband has blue eyes, his father an family all have blue eyes. Both of my children have brown eyes like me. Hoping for baby #3 to have those beautiful blues like his daddy!

It's definitely most likely that baby will end up with dark brown hair and brown eyes- but hair may be lighter as a baby/toddler, and eyes may look grey/green/blue for a while. 
However- think about your youngest sister- it was more likely that she get those dark dominant genes, but she didn't! So you obviously have some recessive genes in your genetic makeup (though they didn't show up in your features)--- so there is absolutely a possibility that your baby may have those recessive traits, but it is definitely far more likely that baby will have darker features just like mama.

To be honest their is no way to guess what hair colour your baby is going to have. Myself and sister both have dark hair and brown eyes (she always had darker hair and eyes than me) my husbands brothers all have dark hair and his sister has blonde, my husband had blonde hair until he was 7/8 it then went brown, my first son has blonde hair and grey/green/brown eyes, my youngest son has auburn hair and light brown eyes... I have no clue what this little lady due 12.12 is going to have its just a waiting game

I think in essence you have both dominant and regressive genes - so you got dark eyes but its just counteracting your mums genes that you inherited for blue eyes because its more dominant - so you have both options in you - so because your egg is 50% of your dna your egg may have split with a blue eyed gene or a brown eyed gene and your husbands sperm will have done the same - so if you both passed on a recessive - light colour - gene then they will have light colour eyes or whatever. Its a simplistic version of how it works but hopefully that helps - basically theres no way to know until they're born! :)

Genetics is far more complicated than anyone could ever explain on here. There's no sure way of know your baby's hair/eye colour until they're born and even then it's not definite. Our dd was born with almost black hair, by 6 months it had almost all fallen out...she'll be 2 next month and she's now got copper hair (hubs has ashy blonde, I have dark brown; his sisters are light blonde and bright ginger both parent gingery brown. My sister has light brown, my mum black and my dad was a light blonde kid and now has dark brown hair). Most caucasian babies are born with blue eyes, they'll change by the time they're 1 to a different blue, grey, green or even brown. It's very hard to tell. And anyway, none of it is actually important, hair/eye colour and looks are so overrated and all babies are beautiful.

Dark colors are usually dominant. That being said I have two brown haired parents (red hair on both sides of family) , I have brown hair and my partner has brown hair. I have 3 blonde boys, my oldest has the slightest reddish tint to his hair. It's more of a strawberry dirty blonde. With our youngest, he has dark eye lashes and it makes me wonder if his hair will darken when he gets older.
