When does Lexapro work???

Hi ladies. I've been on Lexapro for generalized anxiety disorder for almost 3 weeks. I am only on 5mg and take it every night before bed.
I haven't really felt a lot of side effects just a bit of nausea and tiredness. 
I'm in a 14 month program for medical assisting and I end this September of 2016. My anxiety prevents me from doing so much like going to school, going out to dinner, going to events, and basically anything that involves leaving my house!!
I'm just wondering how long this medication takes to kick in? 
I'm missing a lot of school I'm scared I might not pass but I physically don't think I could sit in class from 5pm-10pm with how I feel. I honestly feel like im dying 😑

I worked in a pharmacy for about a decade. All of my pharmacists would tell the patients it takes about 6 weeks for Lexapro to kick in. Keep with it, it will start working, it just takes a bit.

I think like 2 weeks but you dr should have checked in with u to see how it's going. They might up ur dosage

That's what I take I'm on 10mg at one time I was on celexa 40mg. . If you don't see a difference it maybe time to go back to the dr and let them know they may have to up your mg

I've been on Lexapro for a month and a half and it's just now starting to kick in to where I can see a difference. Hang on, it'll kick in soon :)

I was on it as a teen for "depression" that I didn't have, but alas my mom thinks pills are the answer to everything including normal teen angst.

Anyway, after about two months on it I started to notice a change. I was no long anxious and was completely pacified as long as I was alone. As soon as I saw anyone including pets my anxiety and anger spiked and I was completely blinded by it. I decked my sister for walking in my bedroom, blinded. I stopped taking it and after a few weeks I was back to normal. I've known a few others who've tried it and it didn't work for them either. So I hope it will for you and I got results in a couple months, but just don't be afraid to ask your doctor for other options if nothing/something undesirable happens.
