How many months am I?

Hello mommies! Ive been having some trouble when people ask how many months I am. I am 24 weeks pregnant. I go by pregnancy being 10 months (if you make it all the way to 40 weeks). So I believe I'm starting my 6th month. But others think im only 5. Just wanting to know your opinions. TIA :)

It depends how you look at it... A doctor would say 6 months. They count pregnancy as 10 4 week months... You are considered full term 9 months pregnant at 36 weeks. But if you want to count it calendar wise there are 4.3 weeks in a month. So 6*4.3 and that would mean you actually hit 6 months part way through week 25. And by this same standard using a calendar and calling pregnancy 9 months you will only be pregnant for 37 weeks and 3 days. Then you have the people who want to call 40 weeks 9 months which would mean you aren't 6 months until 27 weeks. But there aren't 4.44 weeks in a month, so they are just wrong because that adds more than a week to a calendar year. So if you want to be most accurate go with 6 months at 24 weeks and say that technically pregnancy is a bit more than 9 months, closer to 9 1/2. Most women in a normal, healthy pregnancy will go to 41 weeks or later if they wait for spontaneous labor anyhow. And you have your 6 month doctor appointment at 24 weeks. These standards are all kind of nonsense anyhow because babies come when they do, not when they are due. And if you think about your due date, is what it is based off of and that calculates from your last period +280 days. So ovulation, conception and implantation aside, and you are considered "pregnant" before you even had sex...lol. So realistically this is all semantics. If you want to avoid confusion just tell people how many weeks you are. For me that would be 26 weeks 14 to go. Or just tell them your due date... I like that one because I know I'll go over, so I say  Doctor says Oct. 31st, I say November 5th :).

You are in your 6th month. You won't be a full 6 months until after 28 weeks I believe. After that you are starting your third trimester and starting your 7th month.

I don't think most people are wanting a technical breakdown of how many week and days you are, unless they're another pregnant lady! Call me old school, but I just divided the weeks by 4. When people ask I say "about 6 months", "a little over 6 months" etc.

If they have the gall to say something about my size, "are you carrying twins?" "Wow he's gonna be a big baby" then I just say "the doctor says I am measuring right on track and have gained normal amount of weight".

Months are longer than 4 weeks. 4 weeks is 28 days and most months have 30/31 days. I see 24 weeks (I'm that too!) as 5.5 months. I'll be 6 months at 26 weeks.

I figured there's 52 weeks in a year, half that (so 6 months) is 26 weeks.

Saying that you're definitely right in saying that you're starting your sixth month or you're in your sixth month of pregnancy but you're not 6 months pregnant until a couple of weeks more. Just like when you're 2 weeks pregnant you're in your first month of pregnancy but not yet one month pregnant. 💕
