Out of guilt.

I don't allow my son to have fish tanks or rodents, something I thoroughly enjoyed having myself as a child but after years realized how depressing their little lives were to watch. All of which occasionally decide to try to escape, which usually lead to their death in my experience.

I especially can't stand these "cute" betta fish tanks that are no more than a cup of water in a small shaped vessel. How would you like to barely be able to move for the duration of your life?

I genuinely feel bad for having these pets and tanks/cages and I guess I A. Don't want my child to feel that later, and B. Don't want to support that part of the pet industry anymore.
