Vitex? How to take it?

Just bought it read it helps boost fertility been trying for 2 yrs now. The one I have is 225mg. On the bottle it says take one daily with meal or glass of water, but I've read to take 1,000 mg a day and seen ppl take 2-3 of the 400 mg pills in the morning on an empty stomach. Should I just go by the bottle or aim for the 900-1,000 mg a day and if so do I take it separate or all at once in the morning on an empty stomach? And has anyone had it work for them?  Any advice, and experiences welcome!!! Thanks in advance!!!
