Testing - 3 Days Before AF, or Day Of?

So I know the obvious solution here - take a test! - but just for fun, what-would-you-do information sake!

I ovulated on CD 16, and was planning on waiting till the 8th when AF is scheduled (15 DPO) to test, buut my husband & I just planned a date for this Friday (which will be 12 DPO), which we rarely do, & I thought it would be really fun to tell him while we're out & about, in the event that I'm pregnant. However, I don't want to disappoint myself too much by testing early & getting a BFN, so I'm just wondering, ladies, what would you do?
