Went from 0 to 3cm!

Hey y'all FTM here! Just wanted to give a quick update. I am 40 weeks today. My appointments always fall on this day. The last 3 I was checked and had absolutely no signs of labor. All that I was told was "well you are softening but your cervix is still way up there."  Well today I went in hoping for something. The last couple of nights I have had the worst pressure in my vagina. It would wake me up it was so bad. Didn't think it was a contraction or anything. Heck I didn't know bc I had never had one before. All it felt like was a bad period cramp. I had always heard that contractions feel like a radiating pain from back to front. Well this morning I was getting ready and used the bathroom and wiped and finally there it was, my mucous plug!  I know that's not exciting to most but I was so ecstatic bc something was happening.  Well my husband and I went for my appointment this morning. To my amazement the doc looked at me and said wow you are 3cm dilated, 70%effaced, and almost completely thinned out!  She said she was scared she was gonna break my water!  I shared this story bc I would constantly read comments on here about not making any progression and someone finally would and it always made me feel better. The doc said I probably would have a baby in the next couple of days!! I will keep everyone updated!
