HPV anyone?

So I went to the doctor for an annual exam and my pap smear came back with abnormal cells. The doctor did a colpascopy and she said I was HPV (not HIV) positive. Can anyone give me any insight or feedback from experience. Is there a cure? Do I have to refrain from having sex with my husband? Let's just say I was a Virgin when we got married but he wasn't.. so no we didn't cheat on each other.

I find it odd that you doctor wouldn't answer these questions for you. No, there is no cure but there are medicines to help limit outbreaks. Your husband should get checked. If he is negative there is always a chance you could spred it to him so you should use condoms. If you choose to risk it or are TTC then avoid intercourse when having an outbreak, at a minimum.

I'm really confused as it says HPV not herpes so .. I'm unaware u get "outbreaks" with hpv??? Maybe I need to be educated on tgis. All I know is HPV is very very common and there are different types the kind that don't go away and the kind your body heals itself .. u just have to make sure u get regular paps to check yourself for abnormal cells etc

I had hpv. With most people the abnormal cells go back to normal after treatment. There are 2 types: the std version and the inherited version. I had the inherited version and also tested positive for high risk which meant it was more likely to become cancer rather than go away. I had one treatment and never had it again since. It's been 6 years since. I was seen at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY and this was the information they gave me.

With hpv you must take vitamins D. With hvp you have a higher chance of getting cervical cancer especially smokers. If you were a virgin then your husband caught it from someone . So he has it already.

What type of grade did she say it was? I got the low-grade kind that doesn't have warts. I was told to eat healthy, exercise, refrain from alcohol/smoking and it would go away. It did go away by my next papsmear. He gave it to you but the reason he didn't know is because its not really detectable for men.

Almost two years ago my pap came back abnormal with hpv. Went again in March and still the same so I had a colposcopy and my cells were a cin 3(the worst you can have before they turn cancerous). I had to have a LEEP done to remove the cells, which was successful. I go back in Oct to make sure everything looks okay. Not sure if this is what you're referring too in your post, but I just had to take a few weeks break from sex and that's all!❤️❤️
