Has anyone had an external version?

Question

Had an appointment today at 35+1, and my baby is *still* laying transverse 😒 (and yes, I've tried all the tricks and treatments to get her to turn) I go back in 5 days, and if she still hasn't turned, I need to decide if I want to try an external version or go ahead and schedule a c section. Has anyone had an external version, and if so, did it work? How uncomfortable was it? My doctor says it has about a 40% success rate. For as much as I don't want a c section, that's what I'm leaning towards right now.

I know you said you tried everything but if you have access to a pool, do handstands in it! My daughter was breech when I was 36wks pregnant with her (she's 6 now)...my doctor said to do whatever I could to get her to flip. I googled some ideas and the handstands in the pool was one. I went to the YMCA, did some handstands and, believe it or not, she flipped and the doctor verified at my 37wk checkup. Worth a shot!

My friend had it done when her baby was breech and it was successful. It was done in an OR setting with monitoring of the baby and an epidural. An MD was on either side of the bed and externally pulled/pushed to get the baby to rotate. My friend said there was lots of pressure and it was a bit uncomfortable and afterwards she was sore; but she's so glad she did it because she went on to deliver vaginally which is what she really wanted!

I had it done with my second baby! It really didn't hurt that much I was so determined for her to turn that I didn't mind it. It was done at the hospital and basically if anything had gone wrong they would have done a c section right then which I was prepared for. But she turned!!! Sooooo worth it she was born naturally that night.

Take a look on you tube if you want to know what it's gonna look like but I cannot speak to how it feels. I watched videos out of curiosity just in case that was something I was headed for.

I'm the same Hun, still transverse argh! So frustrating! I watched an external version online this morning that was successful and my midwife says there's a great success rate with it. I'm 33 weeks so she said we will try one at 37 weeks of he's still the same. I've heard it's very uncomfortable but hey if it works then worth a try for sure!

I'd personally recommend seeing a chiropractor who knows the Webster technique!! Well worth it! Good luck! And remember...you done HAVE to schedule a csection just know that baby may take up until labor begins to turn and if labor does begin and they haven't it will be an emergency c section. I wouldn't have scheduled mine before 40 weeks but baby flipped for me.
