I was. But as he got older he started callimg me Iauntie and God mommy is never around.

Well it could be for religious reasons! We are really stuck because we converted to Catholicism a few years ago. None of our close friends are Catholic. I thought that our Pastor would say "oh they're Christian? Sure no problem" for the couple we picked, but nope. He said the God Parents are responsible for spiritual formation and teaching the baby our faith. So now we're looking at God parents as something a little different than before.

We can have one non-catholic but at least one needs to be Catholic.

The God mother and father for ours will be for the religious reason and will be family members so no issues for us. I don't have God parents and my husbands are his family members as well.

No bc I would want my child raised the way I would want and would choose friends or family who would be the best fit for that. That's also what I would want someone else to do. We live on a small farm, and if my best friend wanted their little one to grow up in town, I'm obviously not the best choice (not a good example but you know what I mean). It's about what and who is best for the child, not how long they have known someone
