Breastfeeding lol (and kinda sad too)
My SIL (brother's wife) has 7 1/2 month old and I have a 4 month old. We live 4 hours apart, so friends, but not super close. Mine is EBF, and hers is formula fed... no judgement at all, I promise! We were together this weekend with the girls, and she asked me aren't you tired of watching what you eat to breastfeed? My LO has no food sensitivities, so I replied, what the extra 500 calories I can eat because I burn them breastfeeding? Apparently, she had heard from a friend or read that she needed to be careful with dairy because of possible milk sensitivities, and some green veggies because of gassiness. I told her those foods didn't affect my LO at all. I even have coffee each morning and can have a glass of wine after I put her to bed because she sleeps all night. She was surprised that all that doesn't usually affect baby at all. Her mom's a little neurotic, so she didn't have the breastfeeding support that I did. It's amazing the misconceptions that are floating around, and everyone considers themselves an expert because it happened to them or someone they know. We both have awesome healthy kids, no matter how they are fed. It just made me think (and thankful)!
