FTM induce procedure?

Please explain what all happens when you get induced. I'm confused and very nervous, could of had a baby by now but I refused to be induced at the time, I'm terrified! I'm 40weeks 6days 1cm and not effaced at all. Any info would be helpful and more reassuring than going in knowing nothing!

I was induced last tuesday, and it went perfect for me. Was admitted at 4pm, they placed some medicine in my vagina at 6pm, they came back at 6am wednesday, and I was only 1cm dialated. They placed some type of balloon by 10am to help my cervix open up. My water broke 30 minutes after that. At that point they were putting some medicine to start contracting thru the iv. I started feeling really bad contractions around 2pm, so I requested the epidural. I was able to sleep for about 2 hours after that was not feeling any pain at all. Around 4 pm I started feeling contractions again, but they were mostly pressure, they checked and I was 7cm dialated. By 4:45 I couldn't handle the pressure anymore so they checked me again, and I was at 9cm. Doctor came in at 5pm, explained a little bit of the pushing to me (I'm a first time mom) and my baby was born on my second contraction (3 minutes)  hope it helps.

It's different for everyone. I'm in the process, and am being induced due to protein in my urine and high BP. I had an appointment at 40 weeks, 1 day and was sent to the hospital to be monitered. They decided to induce and checked my cervix. I was Hard, not effaced, and not dilated. So I got cervidil last night, and went to sleep. Have had pressure and some inconsistent contractions, they took the cervidil out 20 hrs later.  They put in a Foley Balloon, and hopefully that will dilate me and they can start pitocin... It's a slow process when your body isn't Ready! Fingers crossed this balloon falls out before 8am! :)

My friend just got induced a couple days ago and I'm getting induced thursday. They gave her cervadil, which softens the cervix but it takes 12 hours. Then they gave her pitocin and it caused her to have contractions. And she dilated from 1 to 6 in a couple hours, then 6 to 10 in ten minutes. 
The midwives told me I'm not gonna need the cervadil because I'm already 3 cm and 80% effaced and my cervix is very soft. So I can go straight to the pitocin (that takes 12 hours off haha)

I`m actually a first time mom myself & due the 20th. I ask my doctor 101 questions, especially  what happens if it comes a chance that I need to be induced. He told me that it's more intense because of the contractions but the plus side is that you can ask for epidural. He was also telling me that some people claim that even with inducing labor it can last pretty long. I suggest just going into this with a positive mind & if you have any questions before they start ask just to reassure yourself that everything will be fine.

UPDATE I had a scheduled c section on the 12th at 41 weeks 2 days. My daughter was 9lbs 7oz, too big to fit through birth canal and she wasn't engaged.
