I have been trying to have a child since September 2010, I was 19. I have not been at all successful. I am now 25 and haven't been to the Dr. since I was 21 due to lack of medical insurance. (I fall in the group of people that make to much to get state benefits but also can't afford the insurance offered though work) I will FINALLY be getting insurance again in 2 months.

When I was 21 I went to the Dr because I wasn't getting pregnant as fast as I thought it would happen. They took blood work and asked me about my family's health history. She then told me I needed to lose weight (I was 220 lbs.) and proscribed me Prenatals w/ folic acid, and Metformin. Not because I was diabetic but because I said my Grandmother and Father where both pre-diabetic. I took the Metformin for 2 months then stopped and never went back to the dr.

Fast forward to today and I have now been trying to get pregnant for just shy of 6 years. Now that I am 25 it's really time to know why?! And can it be fixed?! I don't know if I have PCOS but it's a question I plan on asking. I do have scalp hair loss, I do have a few whiskers on my chin that I make sure gets plucked, I have moderate oily skin, mild acne around period time only. I have been unable to lose weight (now 260lbs) However I do have a regular menstrual cycle every 32 days for 5 days. Day 1 is very light, Day 2-3 is heavy, Day 4-5 very light. Never any cramps, only sore breasts.

Can anyone share there insight into PCOS? Could my infertility be linked to that even with having a regular cycle? I'm ready for answers. I never imagined not having kids by 25.
