Bleeding

Ok so my cycles are always right on time. Every 3 weeks nothing then bleeding for about 5 days. However my next period isn't due for another week yet I've had some light blood when I've went to the loo. What does light bleeding between periods mean? I had a small amount yesterday (very light pink and very small) but had nothing today except a pale pinkish colour of normal discharge.
