When should I test?

I was on the implanon for six years. My husband and I decided to start trying last November. My doctor told me I could get pregnant right away but after that it could take awhile for my body to return to normal. Well, I did get pregnant. But I had a miscarriage due to the hormones still in my body from the implanon. Every month has been extremely discouraging because my doctor said my body can take up to a year to go back to normal. Well she put me on Clomid which I was supposed to start this month after my period. 

Last month I felt like I ovulated but I never tested due to the previous months of not ovulating. I had ovulation pains and everything. I even had what I thought to be implantation spotting but I wasn't sure. Well I was supposed to start August 8th. Usually my periods have been 32-34 days apart. But still nothing. I don't even have cramps. I want to test but I'm afraid it will be too soon. 

Any advice?
