Should children be paid for chores?

Question

I don't mean doing things like cleaning their bedroom, bringing their dirty clothes to the laundry room, or cleaning up messes they make. 
But for things like vaccuming/dusting the living room, cleaning the kitchen or other rooms used by the entire family, doing laundry?

Yes. I believe it teaches the value of money and working for it. My son is almost 3 and when he helps clean I give him a dollar or 50 cents for his piggy bank and every 2 Weeks when his dad get paid we take him to the store and let him get what he wants. It also teaches him to be organized and clean as he gets older.

We do both. My kids have set chores that they do because they are part of the family and they aren't paid and then they can earn money by doing extra things Around the house.

Yes , it teaches them that work equals money for them , they do the work they get paid just like adults , my son is five and I'm slowly introducing this to him with simple things like tidying his toys from the floor for a penny ( depends what change I have at the time ) so mummy can Hoover

It can be helpful in teaching them to be self sufficient but I never had that, probably won't do it myself. I find the idea of discussing money so freely in a domestic context a bit wierd.
