If I take 8 months off for maternity then we won't be just scrapping by for money. Or should I take a full year maternity with my babe and try to make due.

I suggest trying cloth diapers it will really help in the money department.

Only you and DH can answer that - if scraping by is ok with you then do that but if it will really be too tight them don't do it but only you can answer that question
