baby powder?

My MIL would put baby powder on my baby's neck and armpits don't know why. Anyone else does this? I asked my mom if she did that to me or my sisters and she said no. 
Also when you put baby oil do you do it after bathing him? I'm FTM don't judge 😭

Baby powder isn't recommended in the Uk anymore. I know there are court cases against Johnson & Johnson around cancer link and baby powder. Over here it's not recommended as babies can breathe it in when you are applying it and you don't want talc in your baby's lungs. I just used water and cotton wool round neck/chins when I change her nappy or wet wipe if I am out. I used to work for Clinique cosmetics and they banned sale of their talcum powder over 5 years ok in the UK.

She's prob doing it to prevent skin breakdown. My son gets spit up and drool in his neck rolls and armpits. And if we don't put diaper cream there he will get a rash. Also, I don't use oil I use lotion and I typically put it on him after his bath. Totally my preference, so you can put it on however you want.

Baby powder was something used certainly when I was a baby and everyone buys it for you as a gift. I have loads but I haven't used it. I understand it's to dry them or keep them dry. X 
Baby oil yes I put it on when I'm massaging my little one which is either on a morning after I've topped and tailed him or after his bath on an evening xx
