Doctor Pressuring to Induce?

I really love my doctor. She made me feel so comfortable delivering my first baby, and all my appointments with her have gone great. However... She keeps "offering" me the option to induce at 39 weeks. I have had a completely healthy pregnancy. No high blood pressure, no gestational diabetes, no preterm labor, no nothing. I went into labor naturally at 39 weeks with my last pregnancy and had a very low intervention birth. (Epidural, and very small dose of pitocin afterwards because the epi slowed me down). So WHY would I be a "good candidate" for induction? Wouldn't I be a better candidate for a natural labor process? To each their own, but I find it far reaching my human boundaries to schedule when my baby should come into this world. And I'm annoyed that my doctor keeps asking me to schedule her birthday! Anyone else feeling pressure to induce unnecessarily???

That is so wrong. Why induce labour with no complications. Do they get paid more by insurance company. I am sure they must. Why make a birth potentially complicated for yourself and baby when it will happen naturally. Obviously if it didn't then at 41 weeks induction would be necessary. That's just completely unethical practice though.

My doctor offered me a membrane sweep at 38 weeks to get things going... This is my first baby, everything has been healthy and normal so far, so I don't understand why it's commonplace to offer these things to normal healthy women!! I will be declining when I do go in for my 38 week appointment. I will also be declining the cervix checks until I'm in labor. Not that I want to go all natural, I'd like an epidural, but besides that there's no reason to screw with things, especially when nothing is wrong.

I wish my doctor suggest me to be induce... My last preg I was induce and I found so easy with no rush I set everything at home before I went to the hospital for me was great!!

When are you due? Sometimes dr's will try to induce when they have a vacation approaching or holidays.

The doctor I had with my first pregnancy checked my cervix at 38 weeks and said he wants to induce the next week if I don't go into labor by the weekend because I was dilating quick. I agreed sure whatever but it was like two three days later that I went into labor. I go to the same practice now but with different doctors and they haven't mentioned anything. Just letting it happen which is great.

I feel the same! I would only concise being induce if I was having some kind of complication or maybe the baby was measuring huge... Or if it's far past my due date (again if the baby is going to be too big) I'm a small person so I would rather be induced to avoid a c section because the baby was too big.. But other than that let them come when they come!

The week before I have birth to my first I was asked how I felt about inducing. I told my doc I was ok with it because I had high blood pressure through my whole pregnancy So 4 days before my due date I went in and got induced and sadly it ended with a c section cause my son disnt want to come out and his heart rate kept dropping. With this pregnancy the only problem I have is gestational diabetes but my doc has not said any thing about inducing. I am only 35 weeks right now so my doc may mention it later but then again he may not mention it at all. Best wishes
