Is a pack n play with diaper changing area necessary?

Or can we just get the play yard with infant sleeping area? We'll mostly be using it for travel and the play yard in the house to sometimes contain baby. My husband thinks the changing insert will be useful. I think it's not, you can change a baby anywhere and it's not like it's our primary changing station. Thanks! Any input from someone who has already been there?!
