Watery sticky eyes

Jessica • My rainbow baby was born on 7/25! 1 MC in May of 2014. PCOS sufferer, conceived without medication, I used plexus!! :)
I read that 1 in 5 newborns tear ducts aren't fully developed and that causes them to have watery sticky eyes. I believe my son is dealing with this, and I was just curious if anyone else suspects the same with your LO? I'm going to ask the pediatrician just to rule out a possible allergy. The whites of his eyes are still white and not red which doesn't make me think it's an allergy,

It's a blocked tear duct. 2/3 of mine have had it. My oldest took a LONG time to goaway but my youngest cleared up at about 3 weeks. Massage the sinuses between the eye and the nose. Wipe with a warm wet rag. It will clear on its own. No need for any sort of medical interventions

My daughter started having crusty eyes at 3 weeks. If she cries it gets worse. Try to massage the tear duct every time you feed. Hers have cleared up so much in just 2 days of massaging. Breast milk will help soften the crust.

My son has had it since birth and he's 5 weeks. The doctor said it's clogged tear ducts. Just like the other comments say, he said just massage the tear ducts moving outward. Said it could take a year to fully go away. I'm hoping he was wrong about that part.

My daughters were watery and sticky for first few days, by the time she reached 5 days they were weeping yellow sticky watery stuff which I took her straight to Dr about and he said she had conjunctivitis. Was given drops to do 4 times a day for 5 days and told to clean it with cotton wool and cooled boiled water (1 piece of wool per eye/wipe) and always wipe from inner corner to outer corner. She managed to spread it from one eye to the other within one day (at 6 days old) so keep an eye on it and if it changes like hers did go to Dr's x

My little boy does!forst they said it was pink eye but after treatment it was still there so now we use the pink eye cream and massage his tear ducts works wonders!!!

My baby was born with it and it's only now starting to clear and she's 3 weeks and 3 days! I was worried it was conjunctivitis as it was awful every time she woke her eyes would be stuck, and every time she blinked she would have strings of sticky stuff stuck from bottom to top eyelid! I asked the health visitor to do swabs but they all came back fine and clear. Just keep washing with cotton pads and cool boiled water, or if you're breast feeding, better yet, breast milk!!
