Are gender reveal parties annoying?

Question

I was reading somewhere that majority of people are annoyed at gender reveal parties because it's not as big of a deal to others, but they feel obligated to come anyways. Is this true? I always thought gender parties were so cute. Even when I wasn't pregnant. I was planning on having one but I don't want to annoy anyone with it...
My own mom also said to not have one, she said people don't care as much as immediate family does.

I didn't have one,  because I find the whole thing ridiculous and cheesy as all hell.. the only reason I even had a baby shower was cause I was forced into it. ..just my opinion on it..so ya..if ME the pregnant one,  feels like this.  I can't help butv wonder...how do the GUESTS feel. . .

I'm having one and couldn't care less if people are annoyed. If they are they shouldn't come. This might be my only pregnancy and darn it I'm going to enjoy every last minute of it.

I didn't have one,  I think they are annoying. People have busy lives,  I would rather have folks come to my baby shower than a reveal party.

I had one with the people that actually care about my babies gender. My family and my hubbies family. The rest of the people found out through word of mouth or social media. Everyone at my gender reveal was crying tears of happiness, those are the only people that truly care and maybe a best friend but other than that I didn't feel the need to celebrate my babies gender with them. They're going to be celebrating his life at our baby shower 💙👶🏻

Literally no one is excited about if your child is a girl or boy other than you and maybe your family. Honestly, when you get to a certain age no one REALLY honestly even cares that your pregnant. (It's very been there done that). I would personally never go to a reveal party nor would I have one. It just seems so "Look at me! Give me attention!"

I think they are fun! An excuse to get some family and friends together to just hang out, eat food, and find out what baby is!

I hate gender reveal party and hope this trend goes away. Do something small with your immediate family if you have to. No one cares as much about your pregnancy as you do. Plus between this and a baby shower for every baby it's just way too much!!!

I had one and I loved every minute of it. My baby is my family's beginning of a new generation (first niece/nephew, first grand, first great grand, and my great grandmother is alive so it's her first great-great grand) so it was a big deal and happy occasion to find out the gender. My SO's brother and his wife just had a baby boy so it was extra special when we found out our baby will be a girl. Our party was for an intimate crowd of family and close friends. No gifts were asked for. It was An amazing day shared with amazing people.

I think their annoying. I never wanted one. One of my friends even said she hates getting invited to them because she feels like she has to bring some sort of gift.
