What are risk that mother n child can have from mother been given pitocin to long?? What are the side affects ?

Pitocin sucks! If you think contractions our bad on their own, you haven't seen anything, yet. Also, where it kicked my pain into full gear, I had to have an epidural which only worked for a few hours. I felt everything after a while including giving birth and getting stitched up until the doctors finally listened to me that I wasn't just feeling pressure. However, the worse part of having pitocin was that it almost killed my son. Every time they would increase the dose, his heart rate would drop and go back up when they decreased the does. It was about an hour or so before I was able to push that doctors and nurses all of a sudden ran in my room and started flipping me all over the place. At this time I was on oxygen because he wasn't getting enough. Nobody would talk to me or tell me anything about why they were flipping me all over the place. I finally asked a nurse, what the hell are you doing to me? She said his heart rate had dropped severely and we could lose him. She told me I may need an emergency c-section. His heart rate had gone from the 160s to the 30s in the matter of seconds all thanks to the pitocin. They decided to sit me up and that made a huge difference. I was able to deliver him vaginally about a hour later but I've never been so scared in my life. I'll never let them give me pitocin again. I wish I would have done more research beforehand.

I had pitocin with my last two pregnancies and will be getting it with yhis one. I had no issues. Everyone handles it differently and if you go in with a bad mindset that isnt going to help anything

I was induced with pitocin 3 times and then had a round intravenously after my last c-section to shrink my uterus down. The contractions in labor ARE a little faster and more intense but the only problem I had with it at all was extreme sweeping in my legs. Went down within 24 hours... If you have a good dr, he wouldn't do anything to endanger you or baby.

From what I have read, the contractions you have must be at a rhythmic pattern so the baby is getting oxygen when your relaxed and not contracting.  If it's misused if could cause oxygen-deprivation related issues.   It also depends on you and your body.  Personal experience: I had this during labor to bring my contractions closer and I started shaking uncontrollably.  The nurses and Doctor repeatedly said that it was normal.  My whole body ended up shaking soon after.  It was crazy.  But it worked and my baby is doing just fine.
