vaginal bleeding

I'm 22 and have been sexually active for awhile but about 4 days ago my new boyfriend and I were having sex and all the sudden I saw blood and I thought I started my period. So I went to go put a tampon in only to realize that when I took it out 4 hours later there was no blood on it. The next day no blood. Is it possible that he broke my hymen because his size is way bigger than I've ever had or is it something to do with my birth control (trisprintec)
