Pregnancy test questions

I have taken pregnancy tests in the past that have all been negative. I have taken them at different times in my cycle but all of them right away in the morning.I am just curious; is it MOST accurate the day you are suppose to start your period? I have read different articles that say that the time of day is more important. Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thank you very much.
