How could you tell if your water breaks ?

TMI: I woke up this morning and my panties were soaked , I thought I peed myself so I wiped and put new underwear on . Well i have a big wet spot on my new underwear . Just wondering if it sounds like my water broke or just discharge . I've put a pad on that I'm gonna check in an hour .

For me, it was pretty obvious. I felt a pop, heard a pop, and then felt a gush. It's not that obvious for everyone. However, everyone will continue leaking once their water has broken. So lie down and stand up after 10 minutes. If you feel a gush or a steady leak, it might be your water

My water breaking was gushy and not something i could control. Kept needing to change my underwear.

Also my leaking water was spotty, it came a little at a time randomly for a day and then a ton gushed out quickly, and then it stopped until active labor a day later. I got checked out at the hospital to make sure baby was safe and there were a couple pockets of water left for her so I signed myself out against the dr wishes (I felt fine and healthy otherwise and live 4 min from Hosp) and went home. I enjoyed laboring at home without drs pushing time limits and drugs on me. I went in when contractions began to get bad the next day and had a nice natural labor. Healthy baby, healthy mama. My water was leaking out over a couple days until I had my baby. The best advise I got and that helped me realize it was my water was that if you notice it coming out, trying to stop it with just your kegels. If you can, it is pee. If you can't it is your water.
